Everything you do outside KvK is preparation for KvK. That is not an exaggeration — it is how experienced players think about the game. Resource hoarding, troop tier, commander investment and alliance coordination all exist so that when the season opens you have something to bring.

The seasons run in a fixed sequence as your kingdom matures:

Preparation Season — the run-up, before any Lost Kingdom opens.
KvK Season 1 — your first Lost Kingdom.
KvK Season 2.
KvK Season 3 — "Light and Darkness".

How a KvK Season Works

1. The pre-season

The most important phase, and the one most people waste. Before the map opens you should be:

Hoarding speedups, resources and gems. Everything in items in your bag, not sitting loose in your city where it can be looted.
Pushing troop tier. Arriving with T4 when the field is T5 defines your entire season. See how to unlock T5 troops.

Making sure your alliance is real. A dead alliance in KvK is a miserable season.

2. The map opens

Your kingdom's marches enter the Lost Kingdom map alongside rival kingdoms. Early days are about establishing territory, building alliance flags forward, and securing safe gathering.

3. Passes and objectives

The map is divided by passes — chokepoints that must be captured to progress deeper. Passes open on a schedule as protection lifts zone by zone. The first capture requires territory adjacency and killing the neutral garrison, which is where the scheduled alliance rally comes in; after that it is a matter of occupying it or fighting whoever currently owns it. Holding a pass is usually harder than taking it.

Beyond the passes sit the holy sites — a whole taxonomy of them, zone by zone. In the early zones: Sanctums, Altars and Shrines. Deeper into the Lost Kingdom: Crusader Fortresses and Camps, Hierons and Sanctuaries, Circles, Ancient Ruins, Altars of Darkness and Citadels. At the far end sits the Great Ziggurat, worth roughly +3% damage dealt and −3% damage taken for the whole kingdom, and the Lost Temple, which decides who becomes King.

Whoever holds these gets stat bonuses for the entire kingdom, which is why they are fought over so hard — and why garrison duty on a captured site is real contribution even though nobody thanks you for it.

4. Kill points and contribution

Your individual season performance is measured largely by kill points — damage done to enemy troops — and by objective participation.

When alliances talk about DKP, they mean a contribution score they calculate themselves, usually combining kill points, deaths, T4/T5 kills, donations and event participation. The term is borrowed from older MMOs ("Dragon Kill Points") and it is not a game system — every alliance defines its own formula and tracks it on a spreadsheet. Ask your leadership for theirs before a season starts, because it is what gates rewards and migration approval.

5. Rewards

Individual rewards scale with contribution; kingdom rewards depend on how your kingdom placed. Both matter, and the individual side is usually worth more to a mid-sized account than chasing the kingdom outcome.

How to Play Your First KvK

Follow rally calls. Joining rallies is the highest-value, lowest-risk contribution available, and it earns kill points without you needing to lead anything.
Do not solo attack. Marches sitting alone on the map are free kill points for the enemy.
Garrison when asked. Defending a flag or a fort is contribution, and it uses your garrison pair rather than your field one.
Keep your hospital big. Wounded troops that fit in hospital come back; the rest do not.
Gather inside protected territory. Your economy still has to run — see best gathering commanders.
Do not burn everything in week one. Seasons are long. The players who peak early spend the last month rebuilding.

Common KvK Mistakes

Arriving with loose resources. Convert to items before the map opens.
